Here at The Kernos Centre, we are constantly humbled and inspired by the dedication of our staff, trustees, and the wider community. We are thrilled to share two incredible fundraising stories that showcase the heart and commitment behind our mission to provide vital mental health support in Sudbury.
Jade’s Leap of Faith Raises £750
Our deepest thanks and congratulations go to Jade Ashdown, who works part-time in our accounts and fundraising department. Jade recently took the plunge—literally—by completing a terrifying yet exhilarating sky dive to raise funds for the Centre!
Through her bravery and the generosity of her sponsors, Jade successfully raised a fantastic £750. This money goes directly towards ensuring that adults and children in our community can access professional counselling, regardless of their financial circumstances. Jade’s commitment to going above and beyond truly embodies the spirit of Kernos.

A Trustee Steps Up: David Morris’s 50-Kilometre March raises over £6k for The Kernos Centre
The fundraising momentum doesn’t stop there! Our Trustee and Director, David Morris, has just undertaken his own incredible endurance test: a 50-kilometre March in aid of the Centre.
David’s personal commitment stems from a deep understanding of the vital role Kernos plays in the Sudbury community. As he explains:
“Kernos has been at the heart of Sudbury for 22 years, quietly supporting adults and children navigating trauma, anxiety, bereavement, depression, abuse or simply a sense of being lost. Our service is local and, above all, can be lifesaving.”
Thanks to the backing of his supporters and matched donation from his employer, David’s 50km march is set to bring in over £6,000 for the Kernos centre.
Together with Jade’s figure raised, these two fundraising activities are set to enable the Kernos Centre to provide hundreds of counselling sessions for those who need them.
Why Your Support Matters: Our Lifesaving Local Service
Since opening our doors on Friars Street, Sudbury, in April 2003, The Kernos Centre has been a refuge for those in need. We offer professional counselling to help people find their way through their darkest times.
Crucially, we specialise in helping those not provided for through statutory provision, especially individuals who have little or no means of financing counselling support. For many, we are the only option for vital care.
The funds raised by incredible individuals like Jade and David ensure we can keep providing this lifesaving service to everyone who walks through our doors.
