Carley Maxim, one of the Kernos counsellors, ran in the Manchester marathon, on Sunday 14th April, to raise money for the Centre. One of a record number of over 30,000 participants taking the iconic Trafford Arch start line, she finished in 4 hours 52 minutes, and raised over £1,000, in the process.

Before the event, Carley said, “The Kernos Centre is a lifeline for people in our local community. I am honoured to work for such an amazing charity and to raise money to keep this service available”.

Chris Boatwright, Clinical Director, said, “We cannot thank Carley enough for this tremendous achievement. All of the money she has raised will be used to help meet the costs of 33 counselling sessions for clients who desperately need therapy, but for whom there is no funding.”

After the she finished Carly said, “I can’t believe I completed it… It was so tough and emotional but I made it to the end.

“I kept going as I’d raised so much and felt a duty to complete for what you all sponsored me for. It’s going to help people in need access the counselling they deserve.

“Thank you everyone for your support, I was overjoyed with the sponsorship and words of encouragement… Thank you! X”
