Helen is a qualified counsellor with degree in Person Centred Counselling. She is a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). She is open, honest and has a sense of humour which helps when forming a therapeutic relationship and making our clients feel relaxed.
Helen joined the Kernos Centre with a background of over 13 years of experience working with children in both educational settings and having worked privately with SEN children. Helen is passionate about her work and finds pleasure in working with children, young people, adults and those in their more senior years. She works with clients over both longer term and those that require only a few sessions. Helen works with a variety of different creative mediums to help clients access feelings that are difficult to express verbally. This includes art therapy, sand tray, and play therapy.
Helen will help you explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours so you can develop a better understanding of yourself and of others. She will listen to you without judgement and help you explore your thoughts and emotions. The way Helen works is confidential, consistent and reliable. She works with anxiety, depression, self-harm, abuse, trauma, gender and identity difficulties, suicide ideation, bereavement, relationship difficulties, stress, chronic illness and neurodiversity. Whatever you want to talk about, you can be sure Helen will build a relationship up between you that will make you feel comfortable, never forced to share more than you feel comfortable sharing and will go at your pace.
If this is the first time you have accessed therapy, the idea can be daunting and it can feel very scary to open up to someone, but Helen will be there to work together with you. She will provide a safe and non-judgemental space offering empathy, creativity and compassion.
Helen is also one of our trained Walk & Talk therapists, meaning she offers counselling sessions in outdoor settings where appropriate, combining therapeutic support with the benefits of being in nature and gentle movement.
