Reverend Tom closed his campaign at the beginning of September, with a total of £2,700 raised. He thanked all of his supporters saying, “Thank you SO much for all your support, encouragement and donations. I put the steps in, but it was you guys that really made the difference! I am so completely overwhelmed by the incredible response from so many people. Thank you for all your support and generosity – this will go a huge way to support those struggling with their mental health. At a time when this far too common an issue is exaggerated by COVID19, and when charities are struggling as much as the business sector, your donations not only bring financial benefit, but just as important they bring hope.
“I want to leave you with some quotes from the Director of the Kernos Centre. This is what your generosity and our shared campaigning means:”
Chris Boatwright, director at the Kernos Centre, congratulated the Rev. Mumford on his achievement and explained the money raised would make a huge difference to the charity’s ability to support people.
“I would also like to thank him for recognising the increasing need for mental health support and for speaking out as he did,” she added. “By doing that, he highlighted that mental health issues are nothing to be ashamed of and validated the need for mental health support for everyone, young and old, in our community.”
Reverend Tom said “Let’s keep fighting the good fight in the best way we can. Breaking the stigma, talking, talking, talking, and supporting all those (including many of us!) who have ups and downs with mental health. If this campaign has proved anything, it’s that none of us are alone.
“God bless you.”
Everyone at Kernos is so grateful to Reverend Tom and to all of the people that have supported him. Thank you to all.
