Our Strategy
The Kernos Centre’s 2026–2029 Strategy sets out how we will respond to the growing demand for emotional wellbeing and counselling services while ensuring we continue to provide high-quality, person-centred support for children, young people and adults.
Building on more than 20 years of trusted community-based counselling, our strategy focuses on improving access to services, investing in our people, strengthening financial sustainability, modernising our systems, and working collaboratively across the wider mental health system. Through partnership working, co-production and the meaningful integration of lived experience, we will continue to create lasting impact for the people and communities we serve, with equality, diversity and inclusion embedded throughout everything we do.
As demand continues to outstrip the capacity of statutory services, too many people are waiting too long for the support they need. This makes the services Kernos provides more vital than ever. By delivering accessible, person-centred mental health support, we are helping to bridge the gap and ensuring children, young people and adults can access timely, compassionate care.
We are facing a mental health crisis. Every year, one in four adults in England and Wales experiences a mental health problem. At the same time, more young people than ever are reaching crisis point, with emergency mental health referrals in England increasing by more than 50% in just three years.
