Today, counsellors and volunteers at Kernos came together for a valuable “Let’s Talk Cancer” workshop delivered by Community Action Suffolk and sponsored by Macmillan.
The workshop uses an interactive card game designed to help people think about, and more importantly talk about, cancer.
With 1 in 2 people affected by cancer in their lifetime, it’s a conversation that touches all of us in some way.
The session proved to be a really helpful tool for opening up discussions around a topic many people find difficult, but one we all need to feel more confident talking about. Together we explored the far-reaching impact cancer can have, not only on those diagnosed, but also on their families, friends, carers and colleagues.
We also learnt more about the amazing support available across Suffolk, helping us to know where to signpost our service users who may be needing specialist support and services.
