We’re pleased to announce the promotion of Michelle Argent to Chief Executive Officer.
Michelle brings extensive experience in the voluntary and community sector, with a strong track record of organisational leadership, service development, and championing mental-health support across diverse communities. Her appointment marks an important milestone in the Centre’s continued commitment to ensuring high-quality, affordable counselling for those who need it most.
“I am honoured to take on the role of CEO at the Kernos Centre,” said Michelle Argent. “Kernos’ mission and impact mean a great deal to me, and I am genuinely excited to continue strengthening and expanding the organisation’s vital work.”
Kernos co-founder Chris Boatwright, BEM, expressed pride in the Centre’s achievements and confidence in Michelle’s leadership. “We started Kernos over 23 years ago and I’m immensely proud of what we’ve achieved. But the fight to improve the mental health of our community doesn’t stop. I look forward to supporting Michelle and the team as we enter a new phase of leadership at Kernos. I’m excited for the future of our charity and the support we offer the people of Sudbury and the surrounding area.”
Under Chris’s leadership, the Kernos Centre has grown from a small local initiative into a highly respected therapeutic service, providing professional counselling for children, young people, and adults facing emotional distress, trauma, anxiety, depression, bereavement, and a wide range of mental-health challenges.
Michelle will lead the organisation through its next chapter, focusing on strengthening partnerships, expanding service capacity, and ensuring that Kernos continues to meet rising demand for mental-health support in the region.
