The mayor of Sudbury heaped praise on the “fantastic job” of the local voluntary sector, as she presented fundraising proceeds to her two chosen charities. Representatives of the Kernos Centre, and the Christopher Centre, joined Jan Osborne, at Sudbury Town Hall, to Tuesday, to receive cheques for £1,000.
Councillor Osborne said: “It was lovely to present to my mayor’s charities money raised throughout my year as mayor. The Kernos Centre and the Christopher Centre are both very worthy causes”.
Christine Boatwright, clinical Director at Kernos,said: “We are so grateful for this money, which will help us to continue to provide counselling services to Sudbury and the surrounding areas.” A statement by the Christopher Centre added: “We are honoured to have been chosen as one of the mayor’s charities for 2024. The money will enable the centre to continue to support the local community in providing a warm and friendly hub for many groups and classes.”
