Nationwide is the world’s biggest building society which, as a mutual organisation, is run for the benefit of all its members. Citizenship is at the heart of Nationwide’s business – and a vital part of this is supporting the communities in which its members live and work.
In 2008, Nationwide’s members voted for at least 1% of the society’s annual profits to be donated to good causes. In the intervening years this mandate has allowed the society to financially support thousands of charities and community projects across the UK through its Community Match Scheme.
Community Match is Nationwide’s in-branch local charity voting campaign. Each quarter the society’s local branches feature 3 local charities/community organisations, chosen from customer nominations.
The Kernos Centre has been fortunate to be nominated as one of the 3 local charities to feature in this coming quarter’s Community Match, which runs from 1st February to 29th April.
Nationwide customers can visit and vote for their charity preference in any of the society’s Cambridge, Ely, Newmarket, Saffron Walden or Sudbury branches where posters, giving details about each charity, are on display.
Kernos has already qualified to receive £100 just for being shortlisted to feature in Community Match – should The Centre receive the most Nationwide customer votes by the end of the campaign we will receive an additional £500, a welcome boost to the funding needed to provide professional counselling and support for local people suffering from emotional and psychological difficulties.
So, your mission is clear! If you are a Nationwide customer, please visit your local branch, follow the instructions on the Community Match stand and cast your vote for Kernos.
Even if you’re not a Nationwide customer, you can still help Kernos by providing vital funding directly – this can be done either by:
1) sending a cheque, made out to ‘The Kernos Centre’, to Kernos Centre, 32-34 Friars Street, Sudbury, Suffolk, CO10 2AG
2) clicking on the ‘Donate Now’ button at the top of this screen, and following the instructions.
If you are a taxpayer, your contribution could also be eligible for Gift Aid – which means that every £10 you contribute is worth £12.50 to Kernos. For a Gift Aid Declaration form, please contact the Centre – either at the above address, by phone on 01787 882883, or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org
