On Thursday 25th June Chris Boatwright and Ann Dennis from the Kernos Centre attended a presentation ceremony at Sudbury Town Hall to receive a cheque for £3250 from the organisers of the Sudbury Fun Run & Sponsored Walk 2015.
Each year a local and a national charity are chosen to be the beneficiaries of this event – and this year the Kernos Centre was fortunate enough to have been selected as the deserving local charity. The national beneficiary was Action on Hearing Loss, formerly the Royal National Institute for the Deaf.
The picture shows Sudbury Deputy Mayor Cllr. Susan Ayers (front row, right) and Town Clerk Jacqui Howells (front row, left), along with Jonathan Price and the Sudbury Fun Run & Sponsored Walk 2015 organising committee (back row), after presenting the cheques to Chris Boatwright and Ann Dennis (centre and second right, from the Kernos Centre) and Helena Teira (second left, from Action on Hearing Loss).
The Kernos Centre is extremely grateful to the Fun Run organisers – and also to all those involved with the event as participants, helpers, sponsors and, of course, spectators – for their most generous contribution, which will help Kernos continue to provide the professional counselling and support that is so needed by local people suffering with emotional and psychological problems.
The Centre’s team of 11 professional counsellors treats upwards of 300 such people every year, around a third of whom are children and young people, and the Fun Run money will provide around 100 sessions for those who, due to their circumstances, are unable to pay the full cost of their treatment.
Naturally, additional funding is always required. If you were unable to donate via the Fun Run and Sponsored Walk – but nevertheless wish to help Kernos to continue to provide its vital service – you can do so either by:
1) sending a cheque, made out to ‘The Kernos Centre’, to Kernos Centre, 32-34 Friars Street, Sudbury, Suffolk, CO10 2AG
2) clicking on the ‘Donate Now’ button at the top of the this page, and following the instructions
If you are a taxpayer, your contribution could also be eligible for Gift Aid – which means that every £10 you contribute is worth £12.50 to Kernos. For a Gift Aid Declaration form, please contact the Centre – either at the above address, by phone on 01787 882883, or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org
