Maria’s counselling practice is Person Centred, which reflects her respect for the uniqueness of individuals and their ability to know what is right for themselves.

She creates a welcoming, safe and confidential environment to explore the challenges that have been brought by the children, young people and adults she meets.

Trained in Psychodynamic and Person Centred approaches to counselling, Maria is also passionate about the use of creative therapies in her work.

Previously, Maria has supported children with emotional and behavioural difficulties in a primary school setting for 12 years. After qualifying in 2008, she worked as a Family Support Practitioner and following this became involved with several charities working with adults and children and their experiences of domestic abuse. In 2012 she joined a charity in Cambridge and worked for 3 years (part-time) as a counsellor in secondary schools in the Cambridge area.

Maria has been meeting children and young people at the Kernos Centre since April 2015, offering play based/creative therapy sessions. In addition, she also works with a low-cost counselling service in central Cambridge.
