Annette trained as a Person-Centred counsellor and qualified in 2002. In 2011 she also obtained a degree in Integrative Counselling from Middlesex University. She has also obtained a certificate in working with Couples and regularly attends CPD events which include workshops such as Working with Anger, Counselling for Survivors of Sexual Abuse and Group Facilitation.

During her ten years of practice, as well as working at Kernos, Annette has been a counsellor and group facilitator at a drug treatment agency in Ipswich for several years. She has also spent some time with Mind in Chelmsford, working with sufferers and carers of people with eating disorders.

For the last four years Annette has been running the Counselling Service at University Campus Suffolk in Ipswich, offering counselling to students presenting with a wide range of issues. She is also currently involved with the Colchester Institute Degree in Person-Centred Counselling as group facilitator for the Personal and Professional Development Groups.

Annette has experience of working with many issues including addiction, abuse, depression, relationship issues and follows a broadly Humanistic, Person-Centred approach, which aims to create a relationship were the client with the help of the counsellor, can explore thoughts and feelings by integrating past events and future aspirations to gain a better understanding of present difficulties.

Annette also works in private practice in Colchester, seeing individuals and couples, and offers clinical supervision to students and qualified counsellors.
